Join us as we dive deep into the innovative features, breathtaking design, and eco-conscious philosophy behind this game-changing vehicle.

It’s time to ride the waves of the future and explore the Fisker Ocean. In addition, we’ll introduce you to the best auto transport company for electric cars.

Introducing the 2023 Fisker Ocean

The Fisker Ocean is the first vehicle from Fisker Inc., the second company to bear the name of founder and designer Henrik Fisker. This designer may have made his name designing exotic sports cars like the BMW Z8 and the Aston Martin DB9, but this year, he has decided to capitalize on the buyer's love of compact crossovers by designing the Fisker Ocean.

This all-new two-row electric SUV seats five people inside the elegantly and sleekly designed interior. The focus is on sustainable materials and delivering a premium experience. Features include a massive infotainment touchscreen that rotates, an available solar roof, and plenty of advanced safety features.

Performance

The base Fisker Ocean model is front-wheel drive. The power comes from a battery and a single electric motor, delivering 275 horsepower. Two additional drive modes are also available: Earth and Fun. One optimizes efficiency and the other performance.

Except for the base model, Sport trims come with a battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive that delivers a pleasing 540 horsepower in the Ultra model and an even better 550 horsepower in the One and Extreme trims. An additional drive mode, Hyper, delivers even stronger performance.

A striking feature of driving an EV is the instant acceleration. This is because the power is delivered all at once, rather than having to wait for the torque to wind up slowly as in a gas-powered car.

The responsive handling of the Ocean quickly reacts to driver inputs, keeping it in balance. In terms of competitiveness, the Ocean does fall short, but it is more powerful and fun to drive than most other small electric SUVs.

In terms of towing weight, front-wheel drive trims have a maximum towing weight of 2,040 pounds. All-wheel drive trims are permitted to tow up to 4,000 pounds.

Range and Charging Time

Blue Fisker Ocean

The Fisker Ocean has been EPA-rated at 360 miles of range, which exceeds previous estimates. The EPA estimated range rating applies to the top-spec Fisker Ocean Extreme model on 20-inch wheels, powered by the Hyper Range battery pack with a capacity of 113 kilowatt-hours.

Safety and Driver Assistance Tech

The Fisker Ocean has completed and met all applicable US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) for its all-electric Ocean crossover, as well as meeting New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) standards for a five-star rating.

It hasn’t yet gone through actual crash testing carried out by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Fisker is certain that the Ocean EV will receive a five-star rating from the NHTSA if the government entity decides to put it to the test.

Standard safety features include:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Lane keep assist
  • Emergency lane departure avoidance
  • Traffic sign and traffic light recognition
  • Intelligent speed assist
  • Driver drowsiness and attention warning
  • Parking assist
  • Automatic high beams

Additional features set to arrive in later production lines include front and side collision warning features, rearview monitor, evasive steering assist, and rear cross-traffic collision mitigation.

Comfort and Room

Fisker Ocean /interior

The Ocean includes some innovative design choices that make it a more passenger-friendly space. Unique touches that make the interior comfortable and spacious include an uncluttered interior that includes speakers hidden behind fabric trims and air vents you control from within the infotainment screen.

There is a “taco table” that deploys from within the center console for holding things when the car is stationary. There’s a second table hidden in the passenger-side dashboard.

Fisker has decided to steer away from the leather that’s typically used in most luxury vehicles. Instead, it’s chosen to use recycled and sustainable materials on surfaces from the doors to the seats.

Infotainment

Infotainment options are a big selling point for any new vehicles and Fisker has risen to the challenge. Standard infotainment features a 17.1-inch touchscreen vertically on the dashboard. Other features include:

  • None-speaker Harman Kardon audio system
  • Wireless phone charging
  • Amazon Alexa voice control
  • 4G connectivity
  • Two front and two rear USB ports

Another unique feature is Fisker's very own infotainment system that incorporates the info you need for an EV.

The sizeable touchscreen, its responsiveness, and clear, logically organized menus make it easy to use. You also have the option of customizing the display to include the items you use most often. Using the single row of physical buttons at the bottom of the screen allows you to change the climate control without the touchscreen. Extreme and Ocean trims have a screen that rotates from portrait to landscape when the car is parked so you can watch videos. With these trims, there’s also dual-pad wireless charging and a 16-speaker premium audio system.

Storage and Cargo Space

The Ocean features a wide tailgate opening, making stowing larger items easy. A useful cargo cover helps to keep everything out of sight. Unique touches include a cargo area floor which folds in the middle to reveal a small underfloor area. Three small hooks pop out when the floor is folded. These are great for holding grocery bags.

In the front, the usual glovebox is missing in the Ocean. Instead, there’s a taco tray that pops out from the dashboard when the car is stopped. This handy tray is perfect if you want to set down food for an on-the-go meal. Small storage bins hidden beneath the front seats also help to compensate for the lack of a glovebox.

Style and Design

The Fisker combines a mix of minimalism and luxury perfectly, plus there’s a focus on sustainability. Gone are the flashy metal and wood trims. They’ve been replaced with soft suede fabrics that deliver visual appeal.

Simplicity was the aim of the designers, and they’ve achieved it with an unfussy interest that turns the cabin into a welcoming and calm space.

Fisker has introduced a fresh, modern take on luxury that doesn’t need custom fabrics or real leather to create a luxury experience.

Is the 2023 Fisker Ocean Worth Considering if You’re in the Market for a New Car?

Fisker Oceans on the road

There’s a lot of competition in the electric SUV market, but the Fisker Ocean has plenty of features to make it stand out.

There’s ample seating for five and features that make using the vehicle comfortable and convenient. These include the rotating infotainment screen, reclining rear seats, and taco trays for holding snacks. While these might not be essential, you’re not going to find them on other vehicles.

In terms of practicality, the Ocean has a long driving range which reduces the need to stop and charge. Strong acceleration and good handling help to keep the driver engaged. The smooth and quiet ride makes it an ideal option for road trips.

We should also mention the California mode, which opens all eight windows at once to enjoy warm summer weather. This is a feature you’ll find in no other SUV (electric or otherwise).

The Ocean is a good option for anyone looking to make the move to electric. Rather than choosing to build a factory on its own, Fisker has contracted its manufacturing to an established car-building expert. Vehicles are being made in Austria by Magna Steyr, renowned for making other EVs like the Jaguar I-Pace. This manufacturer also has a long history with Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Toyota.
