You can expect upgrades that range from design features to underpinnings. Both variants have the same engine. However, both torque and power arrive at lower revs. The Japanese giant has also decided to make things more interesting by increasing peak torque by 7%. Performance and sound improvements are due to the increased compression ratio, larger intake ducts, 65mm taller intake trumpets, and a redesigned exhaust with a modified silencer.

It stays true to the essence of the M treatment, but gets more power, more carbon-fiber parts and more features, as well as improved hardware. It packs a modified engine with Shift cam technology that’s capable of producing 31 hp more than the new S 1000 XR. Furthermore, rear wheel pulling power in all gears is increased thanks to a shorter secondary gear ratio that employs a 47-tooth sprocket instead of 45.

Highlights include an LED headlight with integrated DRL, high-raised front mudguard, five-spoke alloy wheels with a Y-design, signature taillight, wide handlebar, flat seat, and upswept dual exhausts. Two variants are available: Standard and RVE, which have graffiti livery accentuating their street characters. There’s also an A2 version for younger riders. Jointly developed with Bajaj Auto (an Indian manufacturer), they fall under the brand’s modern classic range and are designed for different purposes. Modifications and changes for the Scrambler 400 X make it look taller, wider, and heavier than the Speed 400. It also has a 1.62-inch longer wheelbase, updated ergonomics, split-seat, LED headlight with grill, slightly taller stance, USB charging port, semi-digital panel, broader handlebars, and 19-inch front wheel. It will also have tech features such as traction control, quick-shifter, and ride modes.
