Can I ship personal items in my car?

Yes. You can have up to 100 lbs in the trunk/cargo area of the vehicle. Items must be contained to a single box or suitcase. However, if you'd like to load more personal items, you will need to provide the estimated weight of the items and we will provide you with all inclusive price. Keep both front seats completely empty and free of any personal items. Everything needs to be on the back seat below the window level. Please, keep in mind per the Department of Transportation (DOT) we're not allowed to ship anything outside the vehicle. You can ship items (additional engine, transmission, etc.) outside the vehicle but they must be crated and can only be shipped with enclosed auto transport.

It is prohibited to ship the following items as personal items:

  • Explosives
  • Guns and ammunitions
  • Flammable products
  • Drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Pets
  • Live plants
  • Jewelry
  • Furs
  • Any unlawful contraband

Land shipments - when you ship your vehicle on land all of the above information is valid in regards to shipping personal items.
Hawaii car transport shipments - when you ship your vehicle from/to Hawaii you are not allowed to ship any personal items inside the vehicle. If any are found the port will refuse the shipment.

If you have any specific requests for shipping personal items please don't hesitate to contact one of our experienced car shipping advisors via phone at (864) 546-5038 or Live Chat.
