Looking for a Vehicle Transport Company Between Montana and New Jersey

Snowbirds are a uniquely American phenomenon, people from places like the Northeast or Upper MIdwest who prefer to get away from harsh winter weather and migrate to a warmer region for a few months. It’s always easier if they can have their cars with them when they’re in the southern states, but then they have to deal with getting their cars back up north again when things warm up. Now, think about what it means to drive your car yourself when that time comes around…there’s the fuel costs, the mileage and wear and tear, the long hours spent on the highway and the element of risk involved every time you travel by Interstate. Using a vehicle transport service  means one thing you don’t have to take care of yourself, and one more headache that’s successfully dealt with

In these next few sections, we’re going to lay out how the auto transport process works and what goes into it, we’ll talk about what you need to do to set up your own auto shipping order to your specs, and we’ll briefly touch on some of the factors that influence shipping cost calculations.

How long does it take to Ship a Car from Montana to New Jersey?

How long does it take to Ship a Car from Montana to New Jersey?

Let’s get more specific and talk about vehicle shipment from Anaconda to Trenton. Taking I-95 the whole way, it’s a well-traveled, familiar route for our drivers, but it’s nearly 3854.7miles and would mean 33-36 hours of drive time (not including stops and breaks). It’s our policy that a delivery that needs to cover 200 miles should take no more than a day to complete, and if 3854.7 miles are involved for a delivery, we budget out an 8 to 9 day turnaround for that distance. With that in mind, we could reasonably estimate 5 to 6 days to cover a Anaconda-to-Trenton delivery.

Shipping times and ETAs will always be estimates; when there are many things that can slow a driver down once the truck is on the road, we can’t guarantee a time and date. Just like on a family road trip,  bad weather, mechanical problems, traffic, detours and construction can all cause serious delays, and of course all scheduling has to account for DOT regulations on hours of service. If it does look like your driver will miss the delivery date and time, you’ll be notified by the team at SGT and we’ll keep you informed of the new ETA.

Our customers' feedback and experience with us transporting vehicles from and to Montana:

Stephen
from Montana to Texas
I recently used SGT Transport when I purchased a used vehicle. I selected them because their quote was middle-of-the-road compared to others, and they seemed to offer the best service, particularly in terms of responsiveness.
The setup for the transport was straightforward. The company's communication was clear both as they were arranging the transport and when coordinating with the actual transport company. The pick-up driver was from Ukraine and spoke limited English, but he managed well enough with a dually truck hauling a trailer with three vehicles.

Once my vehicle arrived, I was satisfied with its condition. The entire process was quick, considering the distance from Montana to Texas. The transport was completed in about two days, which I found impressive.

Regarding the cost, while the quote wasn't the absolute lowest, it was close. Importantly, the final price was almost exactly what was originally quoted, unlike my experiences with other companies. Overall, I would rate my experience as outstanding and would readily recommend SGT Transport to others.
Michael
from Montana
The car was picked up in Montana on schedule. The delivery was earlier than scheduled. But the driver was kind enough to drive the vehicle in my driveway and leave the key on my porch. It was supposed to be COD, but I wasn't there. So they left it right on me to pay, which was kind of risky on their end. But maybe they figured that I was good for it and indeed I am. Overall, it was a very favorable experience. It was quite seamless.
Cheryl
from Michigan to Montana
I blew the engine in my car in Montana and I live in Michigan. I had to fly back home because it was gonna take four weeks to get the car fixed. I didn't wanna drive back out there and get it. I emailed SGT Auto and got a quote then somebody called me from there. I asked him six million questions and he answered them all to my satisfaction. He was very patient and informative so I was extremely happy. The quote I was given was right in the ballpark of the other quotes that I had gotten.
When my car was done, I called SGT back and gave them an all-clear that they could transport the car and they did. They called me and told me when they were gonna pick up the car and they called me and told me that it had been picked up. They then called me the morning of and gave me an approximate time that evening that the car would be there. They gave a time and it was 15 minutes different than the time that they gave me for delivery. That was pretty good coming across country. They brought the car pretty much to my location. I live in a gated campground in the summer and they brought it right outside the gate, across the street. I just drove my golf cart over there to get it. It was very close.

How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car from Montana to New Jersey?

When there’s an outlay of several hundred dollars coming up for a product or service, nobody would go into it blind without knowing how much they can expect to spend. When it comes to auto shipping, though, there’s not a price formula that’s clearly laid out on a table or spreadsheet.  There are several factors  that have to be taken into account in cost calculations for auto shipping.  Some of those factors are externalities that can actually cause rates to vary from week to week or even day to day. In the next section, we’ll get deeper into those factors and talk about how they affect rate structures for shipping costs.

What Factors Affect the Cost to Ship a Car From Montana to New Jersey?

Here is a brief roundup of some of the factors that influence pricing for car shipping companies in Montana. Some of these are “baked in the cake” while others are externalities that can vary week to week or even day to day.

Here’s a brief breakdown of some of the causal factors involved in shipping costs:

Fuel costs: consumer prices and the prices for  gas and diesel have had a direct linkage. When a business is dealing with higher operating costs for shipping goods and services, that’s something that can’t be absorbed and will be passed down to consumers. The good news is that the algorithm that sets shipping rates will ease rates downward again when fuel prices drop.

Vehicle year/make/model: a bigger, heavier vehicle burns more fuel for every mile it’s transported,  it puts more stress on the transport vehicle,  and weight restrictions and the vehicle’s dimensions might cut into the number of other vehicles that can be transported. That’s why it’s going to be more expensive to ship a full-size pickup  like a Ford F150 than a small car like a Fiat 500.

Vehicle running condition: why would we need to know this? We do ship inoperable vehicles, but it means special equipment and procedures to load the vehicle and ready it for transport, and more time on the part of the driver.

Transport service: to answer customer needs better, we offer a few different transport options that offer varying levels of security, monitoring and protection. These all present different points on the pricing scale.

Timeframe: we  ask for at least two weeks advance notice to take care of the details  for a vehicle shipping order, but we know that short-notice situations come up. We can take care of a last-minute shipping order with expedited delivery, but rates will be higher.

Routing: it actually costs less to ship a vehicle from one major city to another, since the Interstate system was designed as a route to efficiently connect major population centers.  Going off the interstate to a  remote area or small town can mean higher shipping costs, though.

Cost/mile: this is the metric all shipping companies use as a basic rate formula, and all of the above are figured into the cost/mile equation. Cross country car shipping starts looking pretty good, though, as cost/mile goes down when more miles are involved.
